Maru Snack crossed the Río de la Plata and went to Uruguay to participate in the 4th edition of Masterchef Celebrity in the neighboring country. On this occasion, the cook was summoned as a guest judge in the Uruguayan Channel 10 cycle, to encourage chefs to prepare the most original and tasty dishes.
The format of the cooking reality show is very similar to the one seen in Argentina. With a panel of judges who indicate and give scores to the contestants, and a number of participants, in this case celebrities, who display their cooking skills, as best they can.
In this edition, the cycle featured a group of figures that ranged from the media, to soccer players and musicians and singers. Already in the first program, unusual situations were experienced, which caused all the fans of the contest to speak, in this case caused by the Argentine pastry chef.
In the Uruguayan competition, there are nineteen figures that appear in front of the jury made up of Sergio Puglia, Ximena Torres and Laurent Laine to win the title of best amateur cook.
And Maru Botana gave the note. With her particular casual and very cheerful style, the chef had a very spicy meeting with one of the members of the jury, Laurent Lainé, the popular French chef.
It all started when the fourth batch of players was welcomed, which was made up of Nubel Cisneros, Daiana Abracinskas, Kenia Acosta and Pablo Robles, and the test that was going to touch them was presented. Then something unexpected happened to everyone.
In principle, the participants had been instructed to cook a meringue as a key ingredient, for this reason there was a cake covered in meringue flakes in front of the judges, to serve as an example. The Argentine cook was in charge of explaining to the competitors what they had to do. But without hesitation and under the watchful eye of everyone, at one point Maru took the cake that was on display and threw it at Lainé’s face.
The chef found himself covered with meringue all over his face and at the same time, everyone was surprised, especially the Frenchman himself, who didn’t know how to react. Botana clarified: “I did something that many would have wanted to do in my place”, since the cook is one of the most feared by the contestants, because he is always demanding and in a bad mood.
Immediately, Torres and Maru herself ran out of the studio, away from the event, while the chef wiped his meringue-covered face. Despite her grumpy reputation, Lainé laughed it off and while Maru blew kisses at him from the other end of the kitchen, he stuck his tongue out of her.
At that time, the comments of the participants did not wait. “What happens!. How is Maru going to do that!” Said Daiana Abracinskas, while Cisneros stressed: “It’s like being caught in a hailstorm in the middle of the city.” Vedette Kenia Acosta opened up: “The truth is that I would have liked to do it myself.”
