The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) is updated and constantly acquires new definitions. Among the last words that were added, is “Mastitis”, defined as: “Excessive attachment to the mother”.

What is “mommitis”

“Mastitis” is used for define the affection and excessive attachment of a boy or girl to his mother. The RAE said, by the way, that it does not include “papitis”, since the term does not exist.

Baby mastitis, also known as “mother attachment syndrome” can be manifested as a constant need for physical contact and attention, as well as in a Difficulty separating from mother.

Mother attachment syndrome is very common in the first months of a baby’s life, when they are establishing emotional bonds with their parents. Nevertheless, if this dependency continues for an extended period of time, it can interfere with the baby’s ability to to develop social and independence skills, and it can be difficult for the mother to handle the situation.
