In an interview with the daily newspaper “Standard”, the green club boss Sigrid Maurer rejected the accusation that ORF.at was a threat to private media. “I think it’s a fallacy that the number of subscriptions to other media would increase if ORF.at disappeared,” says Maurer.

The overview reporting of the “Blue Page” with 350 reports per week will be retained. ORF.at will transform, with more video and audio offerings than now, “and that’s completely logical for a broadcasting company like ORF,” says Maurer.

The Greens would not have needed an upper limit for text messages on ORF.at, as is now planned, Maurer continued: “That was the ORF’s offer to the publishers to do it that way. I can only take note of that.”

The green club boss explained that she could well understand the concerns of the publishers as far as future issues are concerned. But she also has the “impression that individual media companies recognized very late that the future is digital and believe that they have identified a culprit in the ORF.
