Video: Mauricio Macri spoke to businessmen at the Cicyp lunch

The ex-president Mauricio Macri He presented this afternoon before a select group of businessmen at a lunch organized by the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production (Cicyp) in La Rural.

When answering questions in a second section of his presentation, he predicted that Together for Change will define the next President in a ballot against Javier Milei.

It is obvious that I think we are going to go to the second round against this new, more liberal expression, more disruptive, more angry with the frustration that has dragged on for decades.”, he replied to a question.

And he deepened: “It will be a challenge for our candidate who wins the internship to really show people that we have that additional experience, that team of people that we can recruit, that value of knowledge and of being part of a system that must be change”.

“Courage has to be put into facing the status quo, which has been a factory for the poor in Argentina and facing it is complicated, it takes a lot of energy and a lot of conviction,” he added.

“Our candidate will have to demonstrate that we have the same vocation for change with experience. It is going to be a very complicated second round because every day there are more people who get angry and believe that everything has to be broken. I think you have to semi-dynamit everything, ”he joked.

The former head of state also recommended that the libertarian leader be careful when integrating his lists of candidates for Congress because, he recalled, many of the leaders who accompanied him in 2015 ended up changing parties after taking office or voting for him. against.

At the beginning of his presentation at La Rural, Macri pronounced a phrase that reminded some of those present of a famous sentence by unionist Luis Barrionuevo in the 1990s: “We all really put aside that “mine is” or this does not come out”.

mine is” is an expression that alludes to the economic returns that political leaders and economic corporations that make up power in Argentina often seek to guarantee.

In 1990, when being interviewed by the journalist Mariano Grondona, the gastronomic Barrionuevo had made a request to the political leadership that 33 years later is still valid for Macri: “We have to stop stealing for at least 2 years”.

The former president, who recently confirmed that he will not compete again for Rivadavia’s seat, expressed this idea when analyzing the challenges that Argentina will face in the next presidential term: “We are not going to have a battle, we are going to have many battles And only then are we going to win the war without shortcuts, without toxic leadership that puts itself in the place of the magician who can do everything ”.

Macri was the protagonist this week of a controversy with the head of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, who decided to challenge his leadership by splitting elections.

In this context, this afternoon he said that the next government should apply “a shock” of order at the beginning of the administration. “If we strengthen institutions and they are above people, our freedom grows“, said.

The new management -he recommended- should work to recover internal and external confidence to attract investment and generate an increase in private employment.

“Firstly we have to recover the law, secondly we have to recover the law and thirdly we have to recover the law, starting with the most important, the budget law,” he said. And he launched as a reproach: “In 2015 this idea did not enter so much; to have a budget without privileges that puts us all to work”.

“I am here after 20 years that I dedicated to this more convinced than ever. If we have the courage to do what is politically correct, the future is ours”, he completed.
