This Monday was not another hearing that was experienced in the Courts of Dolores, although each one has its importance in the trial for the crime of Ferando Báez Sosa.

It follows that on this day, Máximo Thomsen, one of the eight defendants for the murder of Báez Sosa, asked to speak at the trial. He did so after breaking down during his mother’s statement.

When the defendant expressed his desire to speak, the court allowed him to do so. “I want to apologize because never in my life would it have occurred to me to kill someone. Never,” he tried to make clear.

“I spent 3 years hearing things from me in which I did not recognize myself, they spoke with a lot of hate,” he lamented. “Today in this place I wanted to give the reality of what happened this day, I want to give my version of what happened,” she added.

As Thomsen explained, the fight with Báez Sosa arose in a different way than what the rest of the witnesses recounted. “I hear that I organized and I am a leader, I would fight that it was one person against many. I did not see if there were one or more friends.”

However, he admitted that he “threw a kick or two” when he got involved in the conflict.

During his statement, the defendant recounted in detail how he lived every moment of the night of January 18, 2020.
