maximum thomsen He is one of the eight rugby players accused of killing Fernando Báez Sosa in the early morning of January 18, 2020, at the door of the Le Brique bowling alley in Villa Gesell; and, perhaps, the most complicated of all of them due to the overwhelming burden of evidence against him. Although he spent more than two weeks of hearings almost undeterred, The young man burst into tears when listening to the victim’s mother, Graciela Sosa, who this Thursday took the floor to close the allegations of the affected individuals and give way to the closing of the defense.

Accompanied by her husband silvino baezthe mother of the 18-year-old law student, spoke on the second day of the arguments and recalled: “I always thought that my son would graduate and see how he defended the people in a place like this, but I never thought that he would be witnessing Fernando’s murder”.

“It cost me horrors to see how my son was murdered and I will never be able to forget the moment he raised his hand imploring mercy”Graciela added before the court and acknowledged that she had not been able to see the videos of the attack on her son until now, when the defendants are being tried.

In the midst of the heartbreaking testimony, an image caught the attention of those present: although throughout the process no expression could ever be seen, Thomsen was seen wiping away tears while listening to the woman and heard Sosa’s plea for justice broken. “Before leaving I told my son ‘when there is a fight he tries to run away’ and he told me ‘I don’t believe in evil’. I only want justice and that they pay for what they did,” she closed.

Rugby is one of the most complicated due to the evidence against it. Several videos captured the morning of the crime show him kicking Fernando, even when he lies on the ground; and various tests indicated that both his clothes and the shoes he was wearing that day had traces of the victim’s blood. A detailed study even determined that the marks found on the victim’s face corresponded to the footwear worn by Thomsen himself at the time.

These videos were presented by the defense of the Báez Sosa family, Fernando Burlando, on the day last Wednesday when he had to give his postulates in front of the court. In them, it was possible to identify -from a pixel reconstruction- one by one, with first and last name, each of the eight defendants and their actions during the ferocious attack at dawn on January 18, 2020 in front of the Le Brique.

Thomsen appears in the first part of the video inside the bowling alley, when one of the patovicas wants to take him away. It is the moment after the crossing that the rugby player had on the track with Fernando and his friends, during the Neo Pistea show. There, as can be seen, Thomsen pointed at someone and then ran his index finger across his neck from left to right.

At the end, Burlando was forceful and asked for the eight defendants, whom he named one by one, that they be sentenced to life imprisonment as co-author of the “homicide aggravated by treachery and by the premeditated competition of two or more people to the detriment of Fernando Báez Sosa, in competition with minor injuries to life imprisonment”.
