Paris police chief Laurent Nunez told BFMTV to expect “a lot of risky elements” during Labor Day and assures that he will react firmly.

A Labor Day considered “at risk”. The prefect of police of Paris Laurent Nunez indicated this Saturday on BFMTV to expect to see “several thousand ultra-at-risk people” during the demonstration on May 1 next Monday.

“Obviously we expect a lot of risky elements for May Day,” he said.

He evokes “several thousand ultra-at-risk people who will seek to fight it out, probably to break windows, attack the police and who will seek to prevent the union procession from progressing”, specifies-t- he.

An “extremely firm” response

The prefect of police warns that no indulgence will be granted to these disturbing elements on the part of the police.

“For the thugs and troublemakers who come to the front of the procession to create incidents, we will have an extremely firm response and we will disperse them so that the trade unions can demonstrate,” he promises.

However, he also wanted to be positive. “There will be union processions which, I think, will go well as the last 12 (demonstrations) have gone quite calmly,” he said.

After twelve days of mobilization against the pension reform, promulgated at the beginning of the month, Labor Day will bring together the inter-union this year in an unprecedented way for nearly 15 years.
