The union agreed to a cumulative increase of 103% and this month they will receive part of the increase. How much is the basic salary for the staff in the sector?

Gastronomic activity has been showing signs of clear recovery in all sectors, from consumption and production to investment and job creation. As a consequence of this situation, salaries are a reflection with sustained increases thanks to the action of union representation.
In this case, These are fast food staff such as McDonald’s, Burger King or Mustard, which will have a 10% increase at the end of January.
In this way, the starting salary for an “apprentice under 18 years of age” will be 107,500 pesos while the highest salary will be around 208,000 pesosin both cases without counting additional ones such as presenteeism.
Last December, the leadership of the Federation of Pastry Workers, Fast Services, Confectioners, Ice Cream Makers, Pizza Makers and Alfajoreros managed to reopen the “Fast Services” parity, achieving a 43 percent increase which, to the previously agreed 60 percent, resulted in an annual increase of 103%.
The union’s General Secretary, Luis Hlebowicz, explained to iProfessional: “We have reached a very good salary agreement that will depend on the success of the Government in lowering inflation that, if it continued at the levels prior to November and December, it would make it difficult for us to request a new reopening before the end of the 2022-2023 parity” which will be next March.
McDonald’s workers expect a sustained drop in inflation
He maintained that “in recent months he has seen a slowdown in the inflationary process thanks to the measures that the Ministry of Economy under Sergio Massa has been applying,” although he warned that “There must be accompaniment from the business community… some type of collaboration so that inflationary expectations are lowered and we enter a stage where there is a certain normality in the behavior of prices, especially in basic necessities”.
Hlebowicz recalled that “with the end of the pandemic, there was a reactivation in all gastronomic sectors” and assured that “in the fast food sector, new branches are openingbecause they are brands that underpin the franchise business”.
The highest salary for an employee of fast food chains will be almost 300,000 pesos in March.
The negotiations of the parities were faced by the leaders of the Federation with the directors of the Argentine Chamber of Fast Service Establishments for the Sale of Sandwiches and Related Products. There they established the annual increase of 103 percent in the parity that goes from March 2022 to March 2023within the framework of the collective labor agreement number 329/2000.
How much was the annual increase and what do they need to collect
The agreement that was signed will reach the national level and establishes that increases were added from last November above the basic salaries of June of this year, the month in which the basic agreement (which was 60 percent) became effective. After the liquidated improvements, of the 103 percent increase, 10 percent will remain to be collected in February and 8 percent in March.
Hlebowicz reported that “although the percentages were applied as unpaid allowances, later they are incorporated into the salary”, adding that “they are different forms of negotiation that, ultimately, allow an improvement in the income of workers in the activity, who can face inflation with more than interesting basics.”
It is known that this activity is the first job for many young people who, in the category “apprentice under 18 years of age” will receive an initial salary of 151,000 pesos in March of next year with no additional fees”. As for the highest income, they will be around 291,500 pesos for the aforementioned date.

On the other hand, the Union of Pastry Workers, Fast Services, Confectioners, Ice Cream Makers, Pizza Makers and Alfajoreros celebrate next Thursday 12, starting at 9, Guild Day in the recreational fields that it has in the towns of Esteban Echeverría, City Bell and San Miguel, with live shows, raffles and many surprises for affiliates.
From the union they communicated that with the “mutual contribution bonus” they will be able to participate in the raffle for a 0 kilometer car. They also indicated that “we have to celebrate to start the year 2023 with the energy and strength that characterizes us. We can proudly say that we stand firm defending our convictions even in the worst moments.”
