MediaTek announced its new entry chipset: the Helium G36. When looking at the technical sheet, there are few differences when compared to its predecessor, the Helio G37.

The main difference is a 100 MHz reduction in the frequency of the Cortex-A53 cores, which now operate at 2.2 GHz and no longer at 2.3 GHz. The rest of the specs are the same as the last generation.

MediaTek’s Helio G36 will give entry-level gaming phones exciting benefits such as support for a larger camera, faster displays, mediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technology and global 4G connectivity, as well as high energy efficiency in 12-nanometer lithography.

Incoming cell phones will be able to enjoy 90 Hz, giving users more fluidity when navigating websites, social networks and in general animations of the user interface and applications. MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite is divided into two parts: Networking Engine 2.0 and Resource Management Engine 2.0.

The first is focused on connectivity improvements, enabling faster response and more stable connections for users. The second is focused on performance, bringing advanced performance and better management of energy efficiency, providing longer gaming sessions.

In cameras, the Helio G36 supports cameras of up to 50 megapixels and brings hardware for high quality photos with depth sensors. Brands will be able to add their artificial intelligence capabilities for image enhancements. MediaTek’s latest chipset will also allow entry-level gaming phones to reach speeds of up to 2.2 GHz and features the PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It supports up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

The Helio G36 will debut in the first quarter of 2023 on more affordable cell phones. Last year, the Helio G37 debuted in the Moto G22, but there is no indication which manufacturer will be the first to use it.
