With the Helio G36, MediaTek has introduced a new chip that will be used in entry-level smartphones in the future. Essentially, this is a slightly modified Helio G37, in which the clock of the Cortex-A53 cores has been lowered by 100 MHz. These now clock at 2.2 instead of 2.3 GHz.

The remaining technical data of the MediaTek Helio G36 are obviously identical to the G37 – hHere you can take a look at the specifications. A few details: The SoC supports displays with a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz and 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, camera sensors with up to 50 megapixels and up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The chip is created using the 12 nm process.

However, the eight-core MediaTek Helio G36 is not yet ready for 5G. When it comes to Wi-Fi, too, the company is conservative and sticks with Wi-Fi 5. You can’t expect more than Bluetooth 5.0. The SoC is combined with eMMC 5.1 storage space. The GPU IMG PowerVR FE8320 with 680 MHz clock is integrated.

No specific smartphones with the MediaTek Helio G36 have yet been announced. We’re sure to hear more about that over the course of the year.
