Ferrari had requested that the international motorsport federation FIA review the penalty Carlos Sainz received in the Australian GP. FIA still chose to reject the request and thus there will be no change in the results list.
Sainz received a five-second time penalty for causing a collision with Fernando Alonso during a late-race restart.
The penalty meant that Sainz was relegated to twelfth place and was thus without points in the competition. According to the FIA, Ferrari has not presented any new relevant information about the course of events.
– We are disappointed and felt that we had provided enough new information for the FIA to reconsider the decision, Ferrari said in a statement.
Ferrari has had a difficult start to the season and after three races the team is already 97 points behind Red Bull in the constructors’ championship.
