When a game is outstanding, it doesn’t matter how many years pass that it will still be worth playing againno matter how old it is. That is something that I was able to experience just a few days ago when I had the opportunity to get behind the controls with the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 compilation.
This immense collection of video games from the saga Metal Gear It will be ideal for all those who want to know the origins of the series or simply to enjoy old glories again. After playing its various titles for an hour, this has been the experience of returning to the saga in the middle of 2023.
Seven classics in one
The reference he made at the beginning was exactly for this franchise. Not having as much time to play everything I wanted, I had to spend as much time as possible in the different games available within the compilation, since it was impossible to get too far in any of them, unless you are a speedrunner of some of them.
This was not the case, so it was clear to me, my first stop was undoubtedly Metal Gear Solid, which is undoubtedly the most popular installment of the entire saga and was originally published on the first PlayStation. I found it incredible that 25 years have passed since it was released and it still looks greatno matter how pixelated everything is and its resolution and graphic quality is preserved, which has not been touched one iota.
What is clear is that it continues to be a brutal game due to its setting, soundtrack and gameplay. An excellent combination for which still worth playing without stopping whether you are a newcomer to the series or someone who has passed the adventure more than once. In my case I didn’t remember when was the last time I played, maybe with the version Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes from GameCube, and even so, my hair continued to stand on end as soon as I heard its mythical melodies and its intro.
I would have spent the day perfectly just playing this one Metal Gear Solid, but I wanted to take advantage of the hour I had to play the rest of the included chapters. For example, he had never tasted Metal Gear The most retro of all, like the ones that were originally released in the late 80’s and early 90’s for MSX 2 and NES.
Although I knew what his proposals were like, at the moment of truth and putting myself at the controls on my own I verified that the difficulty of Metal Gear and of Snake’s Revenge it was a bit high. Without being very clear where to go or what to do, I didn’t play both too much either, because especially the sequel published on the Nintendo machine I thought it was a bit crazy how demanding he was.
When I wanted to realize it, I only had about ten minutes left to play and without a doubt it was clear to me that my next stop was going to be Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Libertywhich looked amazing as it was his hd versionwith a resolution and a quality that could perfectly fit as a current game by not having anything to envy other products because of how impressive it looked.
In short, they are all still great games and an absolutely essential compilation for anyone who wants to find out for the first time why Metal Gear Solid It is one of the most exceptional sagas of Konami and of the history of video games in general. Especially since this collection does not include a few titles and nothing else.
