Days after these criticisms, the manager of the Miami Grand Prix, Tom Garfinkel, came out in defense of said showwhich he compared to the Netflix initiative and the production of the series ‘Drive to Survive’, which attracted thousands of new fans to Formula 1, especially in 2020.
“There were a lot of people in Formula 1 who were perhaps not happy with the Netflix series when it was first announced and it has certainly had a positive effect on the whole sport.”he indicated, according to Racingnews.

He also clarified that the pre-race show is not a matter in which the organizers of the Miami Grand Prix are alone, since Garfinkel clarified that when Miami negotiated its entry into the Formula 1 calendar, the serial itself and the FIA asked to put on a show and they have complied.
“Formula 1 and the FIA are very involved in that kind of thing.so in terms of entertainment and what we’re trying to do before the race is really more his initiative than mine here in Miami… When we talked about doing a race in Miami, there was a discussion about what they wanted to have more entertainment. That is what we are trying to offer”he commented.
