Microsoft officially announced a series of novelties interesting for its communication and collaboration platform Teams, which will affect different functions of the service and categories of users.

As for meetings, Teams will allow tighter integration with LMS platforms (Learning Management Systems), which will allow students and teachers to access video recordings directly from the dashboard of the system. Teachers will also be able to view attendance reports.

The interface will be able to change settings in the Gallery view, moving the navigation controls to get more space and therefore show videos of additional participants. The meeting toolbar has also been improved and will show dedicated buttons for asking to speak and for switching between view modes.

Teams will also offer an integration with Meta Workplace Live which will allow you to stream meetings or webinars. The integration will allow for both access to live events and viewing of recordings later.

Webinar tools

The new version of Teams also integrates several innovations dedicated specifically to the creation of webinars: When selecting a template, a new structure is now shown with expanded options allowing you to customize registration details and enter specific settings for each event.

This will make it easier to add all the details both on the management of the event (designating any co-organizers) and as regards information about the presentersindicating information such as biography, professional role, company of origin, Linkedin profile and other social accounts.

You can too customize the look of the interface by changing the theme and adding elements such as banners, logos or color scheme.

New registration features allow you to limit the number of registrants (up to a maximum of 1,000), add custom questions for collect information about the participantsor show pages of terms and conditions to accept during the registration process.

The management interface allows you to view detailed information about the participants and registration status at any time, while the reporting functions allow advanced analysis from a centralized system.

Rooms and devices

Teams Rooms users on Windows can now launch the Microsoft Whiteboard collaboration app in Teams meetings using the one-touch meeting content sharing feature from the meeting room console.

When Whiteboard is started from the room, control is given to the organizer meeting so I can manage access to this feature.

Attendees who are on-premises can use the meeting room console to show the chat on the room screen together with meeting participants and/or shared content in Gallery, Large Gallery, or Together modes.

The feature is available to users via View Switcher on meeting room consoles, but IT administrators can decide whether to hide the meeting chat completely.

Speaking of meeting rooms, a few have been introduced innovations that align this interface with the desktop experience by Teams. Critical notifications that require user action will continue to be available and actionable with informative notifications on the front of the screen.

Another small but valuable change concerns the search: now, in fact, the interface it shows Search results in a chat display full context connected to the identified message, without forcing creative navigation.
