Microsoft has confirmed the next important support dates for Windows 10. In March, the Windows team will release the latest non-security preview updates for Windows 10 version 20H2 and 21H2.

The so-called previews are over. The regular patch day updates are not affected. With the launch of the recent optional Windows 10 updates, Microsoft now has the more information about the Windows Release Health Dashboard be learned. Please note that the regular support period is expiring.

There it says:

IMPORTANT – After March 2023, there will be no optional non-security pre-releases for the still supported editions of Windows 10 Version 20H2 and Windows 10 Version 21H2. These editions will only receive cumulative monthly security updates (known as “B” or Update Tuesday). Windows 10 version 22H2 will continue to receive security and optional releases.

That actual end of support for Windows 10 Version 20H2 Home and Pro was some time ago, for Windows 10 21H2 it is scheduled for June 13, 2023. In some cases, even longer deadlines apply to company devices and the school sector. Users are encouraged to update to Windows 11 or at least the latest Windows 10 version 22H2 whenever possible. If you want to stay on one of the older versions, you will soon be offered fewer updates and then only security updates by April at the latest. Microsoft generally does not recommend staying on a version that is no longer supported. However, there is currently no announcement for a “forced update” to newer versions.
