Sony had already increased the price of the PlayStation 5 by 50 euros in 2022. The reason given for that step was the current economic situation. Microsoft, on the other hand, initially left the price recommendation for the Xbox Series X|S constant. However, a few weeks ago in Japan the price was raised. Now the impacts are getting closer, so to speak: the price of the Xbox Series X|S has also been increased in Sweden.
This costs the Xbox Series X in Sweden now around 6,195 SEK (approx. 559 euros) – before it was 5,695 SEK (approx. 514 euros). Again, the price of the Xbox Series S has been increased from SEK 3,595 (about 325 euros) to 3,894 SEK (about 352 euros).
In the meantime, it is therefore possible that we could also expect a price increase in Germany soon. The only thing that could prevent this: Sony apparently sells significantly more PS5 consoles than Microsoft Xbox models. To catch up, Microsoft could try to keep the low price even longer.
