At this year’s Robocup Junior in Klagenfurt, the Nenzing middle school won the state championship title in the OnStage category.

The five students with a focus on nature and technology prevailed against teams from several countries in the 14 to 19 age group and thus continued a successful record of 9 national championship titles and 5 world championship titles.

In the OnStage category, the students had to put on a two-minute show and tell a story with robots. Ten robots have been crafted, built, soldered and programmed for this since school started. “It’s really impressive what the students have achieved here since the beginning of school,” says the director of the Nenzing Middle School, Annette Walter.

The students applied a great deal of creativity and inventive talent to the show: a moving Santa Claus, a Christmas tree fitted with LEDs, a diverse backdrop and a fully functional alarm clock are just a few of the highlights that were able to convince the jury. “This is the reward for a lot of work and the enormous commitment of the kids. They deserve this honor” said the two support teachers Sandra Pfister and Clemens Rauch.
