Chiapas.- Six migrants -one of Colombian origin, another Brazilian, a Cuban, a Honduran, a Salvadoran, a Venezuelan trans girl- and the Mexican activist, Irineo Mujica, who are part of the Via Crucis Migrante, sewed their mouths shut.

After walking for two days, the contingent reached Huixtla. From a dome in this Municipality, they demanded that the authorities grant them a document that allows them to advance through the Country and for the death of their 40 companions in the immigration station of Ciudad Juárez.

“This is for our deceased brothers, who are 40 lives; they are not one, nor two, nor three. Help us with the documents, and if they can’t, help us with a bus because there are many women and children,” said Cuban migrant Jodanni Hernández, as the threads passed through his bleeding lips.

After the fact, none of the people was treated by medical authorities.

Some migrants had gone without food for several days, despite the fact that Chiapas authorities and organizations distributed water and milk today. Also, inhabitants of this municipality gave them mangoes.

“We are fleeing from war and violence,” added Devora Sofía, a transgender girl from Venezuela.

“For all the dead (in the Juárez station), so that we can move on without being bothered by the Police; many things happen to us along the way, I was a victim 15 days ago: they beat us in Tapachula, I filed the complaint (before the Chiapas Attorney General’s Office) and nobody paid any attention to me,” he said after letting his mouth be boiled.

Since this morning, the contingent of at least 3,000 children, women and men, arrived in this municipality, where they rest to continue on their way to Mexico City tomorrow.

“We asked the National Migration Institute to give us some papers, because we are tired and because we want to walk freely through this country,” said a Guatemalan migrant, as he watched his companions cringe.
