Milei advances with corporations in Argentine football despite AFA resistance

MIAMI — Argentine President Javier Milei said data points to Nicolás Maduro’s defeat at the polls after Sunday’s presidential election, and that his government will not recognize another fraud in Venezuela, alluding to the fraud committed by the Chavista regime in 2018.

Milei said that Venezuelans chose to leave behind the Chavista dictatorship that has ruled the Caribbean nation for 25 years. “Venezuelans chose to end the communist dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro. The data announces a crushing victory for the opposition and the world is waiting for it to recognize defeat after years of socialism, misery, decadence and death.”

He added that Argentina will not admit to another fraud, and said he hopes that the Armed Forces will this time defend democracy and the will of the people. “Freedom is advancing in Latin America.”

Venezuelans anxiously awaited the results of Sunday’s presidential election that could pave the way for an end to 25 years of self-proclaimed socialist rule, as some polling stations remained open more than two hours after the deadline for closing.

The opposition has denounced irregularities after the polls closed, while the results of the exit polls reveal a victory for candidate Edmundo González.
