Millennium, which doesn’t kill me : an unprecedented adaptation

In 2018, Fede Alvarez tackles the realization of Millenium: What does not kill me. An adaptation of the black novel by David Lagercrantz who himself took over the literary saga Millennium after the death of its author Stieg Larsson in 2004. Thus, Fede Alvarez’s film turns out to be entirely independent of its cinematic predecessors. The Uruguayan filmmaker also confides in IndieWire on his fascination and his vision of the character of Lisbeth Salander: “Lisbeth is the reason why I decided to make this film. She does something that I find very relevant these days: she is a woman who stands up to end abuse. The other movies don’t really talk about her. They are told from the point of view of one man, journalist Mikael Blomkvist. He’s the one who connects with the audience and gets the most airtime, and she kind of accompanies him on his story.”
