SAN JUAN.- The Major League Baseball Players Association alleged that employees of the sports representation firm of Bad Bunny provided inappropriate incentives to dozens of players, causing the union to revoke an agent and issue a fine against him.
Rimas Sports, under its corporate name Diamond Sports LLC, sued the union in Federal District Court in San Juan last month, accusing the Association of tortious interference with its contracts to represent players.
The union issued a disciplinary notice to Rimas agents William Arroyo, Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda on April 10, fining them $400,000 for misconduct. Arroyo, who was an agent certified by the union to represent players such as Mets Venezuelan catcher Francisco Álvarez, and his teammate, Dominican Ronny Mauricio, had his title withdrawn while his two teammates will not be able to apply for it. .
The notice details a number of serious violations, including providing and promising improper inducements to players not represented by Rimas, using uncertified individuals to perform functions reserved only for player agents, and failing to ensure that Rimas employees comply with regulations.
Soto will not be on the injured list:
Dominican slugger Juan Soto has inflammation in his elbow and was not in the starting lineup for the first time this season when New York opened a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
