Jeremiah Green, drummer and founding member of American rock band Modest Mouse, died on Sunday at the age of 45. His disappearance comes just five days after the announcement of his cancer.

“I don’t know how to make this news more bearable: today we lost our dear friend Jeremiah,” read the caption of a photo of the musician published on Sunday. “He lay down to rest, and he just walked away.”

Thirty years of career

The announcement of his cancer had fallen on the same Instagram account on December 26. Band members explained that the diagnosis was recent and that Jeremiah Green was undergoing treatment. They asked fans to send “good vibes” to Jeremiah and his family because he “believed in the power of positive energy”. On the same day, American radio host Marco Green said on Twitter that it wasstage 4 cancer.

Born in Hawaii in 1977, Jeremiah Green was one of the founding members of the Modest Mouse. He started the band in 1992 in Washington State, alongside vocalist Isaac Brock and bassist Eric Judy. With the death of Jeremiah Green, Isaac Brock is the only one of the trio to be part of the current line-up.
