The US president on Thursday said he had no regrets about his handling of classified documents, a week after the Justice Department appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the matter.
“I don’t think they will find anything, I have no regrets; I am following what the lawyers want me to do,” the president told reporters during a visit to California, adding that he hopes everything will be resolved “as soon as possible.”
“When we discovered that a handful of documents were on file in the wrong place, we immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Department of Justice,” he explained.
He also predicted that an investigation into the case would not find any crime, for which he also pointed out that they are fully cooperating and hope that the matter will be resolved quickly, since he believes that they will not discover anything there.
