New York (EFE).- More than one hundred thousand immigrants have arrived in New York since April 2022 in an unprecedented wave in recent years, according to figures offered by Mayor Eric Adams this Wednesday.
“As of August 13, 101,200 asylum seekers have passed through the New York asylum system, and 58,500 of them are still in the care of the city,” said the mayor, who underlined the pressure that this places on the entire network of public shelters, where today -immigrants and homeless people from New York combined- there are 110,200 people sheltered.
