Moscow, 22 Apr. More than 3,000 people were evacuated from buildings near the place where an aerial projectile exploded last Thursday after the discovery of another device, reported the governor of this Russian region, Viacheslav Gladkov.
“The sappers found an explosive device. The bomb specialists of the Russian Defense Ministry made the decision to deactivate it in a polygon,” the governor of the border region with Ukraine explained on his Telegram channel.
For this reason, he reported, the decision was made to evacuate 17 adjoining buildings within a radius of 200 meters.
According to the authorities, the explosive device, whose nature they do not specify, was found near the place where the previous bomb exploded, dropped by accident by a Russian fighter plane.
The projectile, which left three injured and caused alarm among the local population, caused a crater 20 meters in diameter in the center of the regional capital.
The explosion of the projectile, whose type has not been specified by the Russian Ministry of Defense, also affected several residential buildings, cars and power line poles.
Defense added that an investigation has been launched to clarify the causes of the incident, which recalls the accident suffered in October by an Su-34 fighter that caused 16 deaths when it crashed into a building in the south of the country. EFE
