CDMX.- The Governors of Morena and the party leader condemned the “political and factious” and “immoral use” that, according to what they accused, has been made of the new accident of the Mexico City Metro that left one dead, 1 dead and 57 injured and expressed their solidarity with the victims and the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum.

“We condemn the political and factious use that the Opposition has made of this accident. It is reprehensible and immoral that they seek to profit from the pain of families to get a political crack by attacking the City Government,” they said in a joint statement.

The officials said they support Sheinbaum who yesterday morning, at the time of the accident, was outside the city, in Morelia, Michoacán, where he intended to campaign on the “successful policies” of his government.

“We support the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the public servants who have prioritized care for the victims from the outset and who are working to restore the Metro service,” said the Morenista Governors.

“We trust that the investigation initiated by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office will clarify the facts,” they said.

Opposition parties have accused Sheinbaum of being negligent for focusing more on campaigning for the Presidency than solving the growing problems of the Metro.

Since it was inaugurated in 1969, three of the four accidents with deaths in this means of transport have occurred in the Government of the Morenista Claudia Sheinbaum, including yesterday on Line 3.

Among those who signed the communiqué is the Governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, who yesterday lent the Head of Government a helicopter to quickly return to the City; Despite this, Sheinbaum showed up at the scene of the accident, between the Potrero and La Raza stations, three hours late.

“We stand in solidarity with the people who were injured and affected in the accident,” the Presidents said in their statement.

The document was also signed by the Governors of Baja California, Marina del Pilar; Baja California Sur, Victor Manuel Castro; from Campeche, Layda Sansores; from Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón; from Colima, Indira Vizcaino; from Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado; from Hidalgo, Julio Menchaca; and from Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco.

Cuitláhuac García, Governor of Veracruz who yesterday called Sheinbaum’s critics “scavengers”, also signed the statement. In total, 21 Governors were signatories.

The others were from Nayarit, Miguel Ángel Navarro; from Oaxaca, Salomón Jara; from Puebla, Sergio Solomon; from Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama; from San Luis Potosí, Ricardo Gallardo; from Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha; from Sonora, Alfonso Durazo; Tabasco, Carlos Manuel Merino; from Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal; Tlaxcala Lorena Cuellar; and the one from Zacatecas, David Monreal.

Mario Delgado, national president of Morena, also joined the pronouncement.
