One week after the crime of the bus driver Daniel Barrientos and only hours after attack on a bus driver from La Platathe Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillofmet this Monday with the urban passenger transport companies to advance with the implementation of security measures for the sector.
Representatives of the transport chambers participated in the meeting CTPBA, CETUBA, ACTA, AAETA y CEUTUPBAand union leaders headed by the head of the UTA, Roberto Fernandez. Also present were the Ministers of Security, Sergio Berni; carriage, Jorge D’Onofrio; the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Martin Insaurralde; and the chief adviser, carlos white.
After the conclave ended, which began around 3:00 p.m., D’Onofrio spoke with the press and explained some of the points agreed between the parties. “We will set up a work table. The first big objective is about the 1,800 cameras that are already installed”he indicated, adding that the idea is “put them in the next few days to transmit”. “For this, we have had talks with ENACOM and this week we will have talks with businessmen to see how we implement it,” he said.
On the other hand, he announced that in the coming months a “work plan to continue multiplying the number of cameras”. “That not only serves us to identify the aggressor but also as a deterrent”he argued, and added that, meanwhile, “due to stock and import problems” it will seek to provide anti-panic bonds to units that do not have the security device to “cope with an emergency”.
It should be remembered that the crime of the bus driver that shocked public opinion was committed on Monday the 3rd, after 4:30 a.m., when two criminals boarded the bus at the stop located at the intersection of Bernardino Escribano and Cullen, in the Vernazza neighborhood.
Faced with this situation, a civilian member of the City Police identified himself, took out his service weapon and fired at the assailants. At the scene, 16 shots were fired and a security camera recorded the moment in which the thieves ran away to the crossroads of a street where the Siena car was presumably waiting for them in which they finally escaped.
After the crime, drivers of 86 bus lines in the western suburbs, summoned by the Automotive Tramway Union (UTA), initiated a measure of force and made cuts to demand security on Route 3 and General Paz avenue, to the height of Lomas del Mirador.
In the midst of one of these protests, the Buenos Aires Minister of Security, Sergio Berni, was attacked by the drivers who, in the midst of his surprise appearance on a collector street while giving notes to the press, insulted him, stoned and beat him with fists and kicks. for which reason he had to be removed from the place by personnel of the Infantry of the City Police and assisted in the churruca hospital due to a skull fracture and collapse of the eye socket.
So far, there are three men arrested for the fact: Alex Gabriel Barone (19) y Gabriel Alejandro Barone (24)accused of the crime of “homicide criminis causa, aggravated by the use of a firearm, in a real contest with robbery aggravated by the use of a firearm”y Rodrigo Pablo Pititto (22)who assumed to have stolen the car in which the criminals escaped.
