A 48-year-old woman from Ladera Ranch in Orange County died after falling from a waterfall at Three Sisters Falls in the Cleveland National Forest located in southern Calfiornia.

Sarah Crocker was trying to save a teenage girl walking next to her who was about to fall off the edge of one of the waterfalls, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Despite Crocker’s best efforts, both unfortunately fell over the edge and suffered serious injuries.

Witnesses attempted to render aid to the victims before authorities arrived at the location in the woods northeast of San Diego.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Rural Command responded to the call just before 10 a.m. on June 8. When officers arrived, Crocker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen was airlifted to a hospital where she was treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Crocker’s family, which includes her husband and two children, says she was an active member of the community who loved walks in the great outdoors.
