The 19/20 of Friday February 17 takes you to the first winter sports resort in Europe where smoking is prohibited, a matter of health but also of environmental protection. An experience followed very carefully by other stations.
There station Les Gets, in Haute-Savoie, is the first in the Alps and even in Europe to ban smoke, even that of electronic cigarettes, on its ski area. A father appreciates. “It’s a very good thing, we’re here to breathe clean air and if we can avoid breathing additional pollution, it’s good for us, our children and the planet”, he says. The rare offenders are not verbalized for the moment. The ban is valid on all lifts in the area.
Do not pollute the snow
Coming from Auvergne, Raphaël, Sandrine and Roman, their sons, have planned their lunch break in a mountain restaurant. The terrace is a private place, so it is possible to smoke there. “For me, it’s pretty good because I welcome smokers and non-smokers so there are no worries”, thinks Carole Voiron, manager of the restaurant Les Lhottys. At the bottom of the slopes, even the tobacconist finds nothing to complain about. A way not to pollute the snow.
