During the 38th edition of the ceremony this Friday, the Caen rapper was rewarded three times: best clip and song of the year for his title La Quête as well as concert of the year.

Three new trophies for Orelsan. The Caen rapper achieved a full box this Friday during the Victoires de la Musique by winning in all the categories where he was named: best concert, original song and audiovisual creation.

The 40-year-old artist who held 9 Victoires de la Musique to his credit now increases the counter to 12 and thus exceeds the monuments Johnny Hallyday and Alain Souchon, 10 trophies each, despite much longer careers.

“It was a bit of a desire to broaden the themes on the album, to broaden the styles of music, to talk about my life. I’m 40, I think differently, it’s also interesting I think. I feel like I’ve passed a milestone,” Orelsan told BFMTV after his victory at the Victoires.

To a record trophy

The most awarded artist of this 38th ceremony, Orelsan is only one length away from the record of 13 trophies, co-held by singers -M- (Matthieu Chedid) and Alain Bashung.

In addition to Orelsan, singer Angèle also increased her number of Victories to five, winning the trophy for the most streamed female album and the coveted prize for best artist.

Another Belgian artist also emerged as the winner of the evening: Stromae, crowned male artist of the year and winner of the best album of the year. In total, he has won seven victories in his career.

This leading trio is not likely to appease the critics who weigh on the Victoires de la Musique, accused of always highlighting the same artists for a few years.
