Omara Portuondo finally has the Latin Grammy statuette in her hands which won in 2023 in the “Best Traditional Tropical Album” category.

The artist herself happily shared the news with her followers on social networks along with a photo in which she is holding the golden gramophone.

I already have my Latin Grammy in my hands! Thanks to my son Ariel and my granddaughter Rossio who went to look for him in Mexico. “Always thank you to all of you,” wrote “The Bride of Feeling” on Instagram.

The Diva of Buena Vista Social Club won this award for her album Lifein which she is accompanied by renowned performers such as the Guatemalan guitarist Gaby Moreno and the Panamanian singer Rubén Blades.

In the “Best Traditional Tropical Album” section, other Cuban artists such as Septeto Santiaguero also competed with And I keep going; the Faílde Orchestra with the album Danzoneando and Estrella Acosta with the album Tierra, Songs By Cuban Women.

With this Latin Grammy, Omara Portuondo at 93 years old, She is the second oldest winner of these awardsafter the also Cuban Ángela Álvarez who received it with 95 in 2022. Previously, the record was held by Omara when she won the Grammy with 79 in 2009.
