On March 2, it will be a year since Jean-Pierre Pernaut, the emblematic presenter of 1 p.m. on TF1, died at the age of 71. He succumbed to lung cancer. He had previously suffered from prostate cancer. The journalist left behind his wife, Nathalie Marquay as well as his four children : Olivier, Julia (from a previous relationship), Lou and Tom.

“I am not ready to replace him”

Almost a year after the death of the father of her two children, Nathalie Marquay is still bereaved by the death of her husband Jean-Pierre. The former Miss France granted an exclusive interview with our colleagues from Gala in which she talks about her life as a widowed woman. The least we can say is that she still thinks very strongly of Jean-Pierre to the point of not “project as a woman” : “I have it too much in my head, I would feel like I was cheating on him (…) My friends tell me that I am still young and that if I met someone, it would be Jean-Pierre who would put them on my path. Say I’m not ready to replace him.”

February 22, a symbolic date for Jean-Pierre Pernaut

February 22 is a symbolic date for Jean-Pierre Pernaut. It was indeed on February 22, 1988 that he took charge of the 1 p.m. newspaper on TF1, succeeding Yves Mourousi and Marie-Laure Augry. But it was also on February 22 that he became engaged to the beautiful Nathalie in 2002, a few months after their meeting at the Miss France election. The latter did not fail to pay tribute to her on Instagram with a magnificent photo of her and her husband during the Cannes Film Festival: Today, two memorable dates, your first diary at 1 p.m., 02/22/1988 and our engagement on 02/22/2002, happy Birthday my love. This photo, wonderful memory too. 1st climb of the steps of the Cannes Film Festival. So happy knowing that I was pregnant with my Princess Lou. Wherever I am, you are in my heart forever.”Jean-Pierre Pernaut is and will forever remain in the heart of his family and that of the French.
