Can you tell us about the new hotels that are going to be built in Nayarit and how the
construction of the new Tepic International Airport?

The Whispers of the Heart hotel has just opened and there are ten or eleven properties under development, but the ones that have just been announced are: Montage, Pendry, Belmond, Rafael Nadal’s Zel; some business tourism hotels come. Vidanta will open more spigots by 2024, after they opened their theme park on August 1. Likewise, by 2026 we will have the Rosewood hotel and we continue to grow a lot, especially in the north of Nayarit. Today, we are the luxury destination in Mexico, but beyond that, we have become the place where people go out to meet and generate economic benefits in alternative locations.

On the other hand, Airbnb spoke with us and predicted that in a year we are going to be the number one destination nationwide for the number of accommodations we have and for the average cost per night in the state, which is extraordinary. This has helped the north and south areas to develop a lot, so we are very happy about that. As for the opening of the Tepic International Airport, it will be in the summer of 2024, in conjunction with a new highway.

What can you tell us about the entity’s tourist offer?

There is a lot of new offer, new rooms, and we have more than 25 apartment towers that are being built in the area from Nuevo Nayarit to Punta Mita, which are also accommodation areas, because it is a trend for people to acquire property to rent it in a digital platform, and in the end, for us it becomes the reception of the largest number of tourists. Today, in Nayarit we can no longer measure the percentage factor of tourist influx only with hotel occupancy, we have to calculate it together with the occupancy of digital platforms and also with the number of people who arrive in public spaces, because some go from Puerto Vallarta to Nayarit and vice versa, or they only go in passing, so the way we measure the arrival of tourists has changed a lot.

What news is there regarding investment in tourism promotion in Nayarit?
States regularly promote, we first promote to generate conditions within our state. Nayarit promoted tourism by investing the state government in security and patrols; we are signalling, generating heritage products by rescuing destinations; painting all the municipalities, creating tourist products. Our promotion phase comes next year where we are going to invest an interesting amount, but knowing that the places are ready for the arrival of tourists. Promotional actions must be focused on California, Texas, Arizona, the east coast of the United States, which are large markets; There is no doubt that the United States and Canada are our natural markets and they must be the challenge for Mexico. We also need to work in natural markets like Spain.
