US electric carmaker Tesla will have to update potentially faulty software in more than 1.8 million vehicles due to a risk of accidents, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
On March 25, Tesla began investigating after customer complaints about unintentional hood openings on some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China, the NHTSA said on its website.
In mid-April, Tesla identified a deformation in the lock switch that could result in the driver not receiving information about the hood opening.
Tesla will offer a remote software update for approximately 1.85 million Model S, Model X and Model 3 vehicles produced from 2021 onwards, and Model Y vehicles produced from 2020 onwards.
