members of the Assembly of the Flooded of Tolosa and the Villa Elvira Neighborhood Assembly will mobilize this afternoon, starting at 18in front of the Municipality of La Plata to demand that the number of fatalities and that the works of the second stage of the Flood Risk Reduction Plan (PRRI) be carried out, since “La Plata is still a floodable city”they stated.

“Once again we will be in the streets carrying out a day of awareness, denunciation and claims, in continuity with the fight that we began 10 years ago, when the tragic flood of April 2, 2013 occurred,” they reported through a statement.

The members of the assembly maintain that they have not had communication with Mayor Julio Garro for a long time and state that “he is saying that he does things and that is not true, he does not do anything or he leaves what he does and resumes it in the campaign.”

Ten years after the tragic flood, residents organized in assemblies continue to demonstrate periodically to demand that the necessary works be carried out so that it does not happen again. The last mobilization was in March of this year, in front of the Buenos Aires Government. On that occasion, they stated: “It cannot be that we are demonstrating and presenting notes and that it seems that we do not exist, especially in a city where there were at least 89 fatalities.”
