NEPR extends the current electricity rate for August;  there will be no increase in july

The Energy Bureau of the Puerto Rico Public Service Regulatory Board (NEPR) approved on Friday several adjustment clauses for the Permanent Rate of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), without implying an increase in the bill for the month of July, according to Resolution and Order NEPR-MI-2020-0001.

“After evaluating the documents presented by LUMA and by PREPA, the Bureau approved the factors to be implemented as part of the Authority’s Permanent Tariff as of July 1, 2023,” said Edison Avilés Deliz, president of PREB in written statements.

LUMA was ordered to implement the factors of the adjustment clauses. In addition, the PREB was informed of the Motion of the Authority in which it informs that it withdraws from the efforts to obtain the disbursement of $34,550,469.97 that would have been credited to the consumers and ordered Genera PR, LLC to present its Fuel Savings Plan before 12 pm on Monday, July 10, 2023.

The PREB also ordered LUMA to present, before Monday, July 17, the factors proposed for the FCA, PPCA and FOS clauses, to be in force from August 1 to September 30, 2023, taking into consideration the temporary generation contemplated. in Palo Seco and San Juan and the amount of $61,379,713, corresponding to the fuel costs associated with Hurricane Fiona, as well as the reconciliation corresponding to the month of May 2023 for said Clauses.

In addition, the PREB indicated that the consortium was warned that failure to submit the required information could result in the imposition of administrative fines of up to $25,000 per day, per violation, as well as any other administrative sanction that the PREB deems necessary.

Finally, it was indicated that the Government of Puerto Rico is managing the $20,538,003 required for the energy efficiency and demand response programs for FY24 of funds not related to the electricity rate.
