The Netflix app stopped working for many users for an hour and a half. The streaming platform experienced an outage in several countries, including France.

It is no longer possible to watch series and films on Netflix this Wednesday evening. The streaming platform is the victim of a breakdown. In France, the service application displays a message stating: “Connection to Netflix impossible”. This notification was noted by several members of the Tech&Co editorial staff, both on the iOS and Android versions of the application.

“Problems on all devices”

On the site DownDetector, many reports show Netflix malfunctioning. Shortly before 8 p.m., reports piled up. The notifications come from France, but also from other European countries. Belgium, Spain, Germany or the United Kingdom.

On Twitter, many posts mention a service shutdown in India.

On his website, Netflix acknowledged the outage. The streaming platform says, “We are currently experiencing streaming issues on all devices.” The company says it is currently working to resolve connection issues.

An hour and a half after the start of the disturbances, the difficulties seem to dissipate. The editorial staff of Tech&Co began to regain access to the platform around 9:20 p.m.

This malfunction comes the day after an important announcement for Netflix. On Tuesday, January 31, the platform gave details of its new account sharing policy. This must be used to prevent access to the catalog of streaming series and films for people who do not pay a subscription. The fight against account sharing seems to be Netflix’s main objective for the year 2023.
