NETGEAR has fixed several security vulnerabilities in numerous router models and encourages its customers to update their devices to the latest firmware as soon as possible. The affected router models include, but are not limited to, the Nighthawk. Netgear hasn’t released specific information about which components are affected by the vulnerabilities or what their implications are, but the company writes that one of the vulnerabilities is a buffer overflow vulnerability (buffer overflow) before authentication. The consequences of a successful exploitation of this vulnerability can range from system crashes to the execution of arbitrary code executed during the attack. So if you are using a Netgear router, make sure that you import the latest firmware, Netgear has published 18 security advisories.
