Many customers still shy away from cloud gaming because of the online compulsion, the first big attempt failed with the demise of Stadia. Other offers are also currently struggling to scale. Nevertheless, the industry is quite certain: the future also lies in the console in the data cloud. Now there are rumors that Sony is making a move to refocus on PlayStation Cloud development.
The group’s current offering, PlayStation Now, brings a changing catalog of games to PlayStation and PC, mobile devices are not served. Another cut last year: Instead of marketing the service on its own, it was integrated into the revised PlayStation Plus subscription. The Verge now claims to have found evidence that the idea of the PlayStation cloud is now being vigorously pursued.

Accordingly, Sony is currently making increased efforts to recruit specialist staff for its new ambitions. The report points to 22 job postings uncovered recently in which the company is looking for new employees to develop cloud gaming technology specifically for PlayStation. They are also looking for fresh staff to “develop and implement the strategic vision for cloud game streaming at PlayStation”.
But that wasn’t it with clear indications of the reorientation, because in the tenders Sony sometimes finds very enthusiastic words for the new ambitions. “Cloud gaming is on the way to becoming a central part of the gaming industry,” the company said. As a member of the team, you have the opportunity to “drive the cloud gaming revolution forward”.
