Regarding the film, Tenoch Huerta said that “It is a very intimate film by director Alexis Gambis. He’s a scientist, working with monarch butterflies, as well as a geneticist and biologist, and all of a sudden he started making movies.

So the character that I play is based on him a bit. Also, just when they talked to me about this project, I had just finished making Narcos México, so even as a strategy it served me to play a diametrically opposite role.”

This is the synopsis of Hijo de Monarcas: A Mexican biologist living in New York returns to his hometown, nestled in the majestic butterfly forests of Michoacán. The trip forces him to face past traumas and reflect on his hybrid identity, causing a personal metamorphosis.

Among the cast are Tenoch Huerta who plays Mendel, a scientist who uses genetic technology to study butterflies and the colors of their wings, and he is joined by William Mapother (who has appeared in Lost, The Mentalist and Another Earth). , Paulina Gaitán (who also appears in the Asesino del Olvido series, Damián Alcazár), Electra Avellan and Alexia Rasmussen.
