To be able to search for a cat in the Swedish Agency for Agriculture’s cat register, you must have the cat’s tattoo or chip number. But the cat’s owner must also have approved that the person’s data will be searchable.
– So far, 96 percent of the owners have chosen to be searchable in the register, says Anders Elfström, who is head of department at the Jordbruksverket in Jönköping.
Since cat owners had to start registering their cats at the turn of the year, around 325,000 cats have been registered, but according to Anders Elfström, it is believed that there are approximately 1.4 million cats.
-325,000 just since the turn of the year is a very good figure, we are satisfied with the figure, says Anders Elfström, head of department at the Swedish Agency for Agriculture.
