A Star Trek project starring Michelle Yeoh has been in the planning for years and is now taking shape.

Paramount+ has announced Star Trek: Section 31 as a new film, with production set to begin later this year.

Back in her familiar role

Yeoh reprises her role as Philippa Georgiu, reprising her familiar role from Star Trek: Discovery after leaving the series in the episode “Terra Firma, Part 2.”

The Section 31 project was once planned as a series, but now it’s at least going to be a movie.

More Star Trek news:

“In Star Trek: Section 31, Emperor Philippa Georgiou joins a secret branch of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and confronts the sins of her past,” reads the film’s synopsis.

Olatunde Osunsanmi is directing and Craig Sweeny is writing the screenplay.

“Section 31 has been very close to my heart since I had the privilege of playing Philippa back when the new golden age of Star Trek began,” Yeoh said. “Seeing her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that has shown me the incredible power to never give up on your dreams.”

There is no air date for Star Trek: Section 31 yet.
