While the “next-gen” version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been available since December, CD Project RED continues to provide updates on the game.

A new update is available

The studio indeed unveils the patch note for the 4.03 update of the title. The latter is mainly used to improve performance on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and to fix certain bugs.

Patch 4.03 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is rolling out and will be available soon on PC, PlayStation and Xbox! This update contains various gameplay and quest fixes.

For Nintendo Switch players, the studio announces that the update will be available “in the coming months”.

Update 4.03 full patch note

pc only

  • Fixed an issue where ray-traced shadows of vegetation would “pop” depending on Geralt’s proximity and angle.
  • Fixed an issue where repeatedly disabling and enabling reflections and shadows in ray tracing could cause black shadows to appear on the edges of objects.
  • Fixed an issue where the DirectX 11 version of the game could crash on launch or after loading a save on some AMD GPUs.
  • Added support for Intel Xe Super Sampling, an upscaling technology that uses machine learning to improve performance and image quality.
  • Fixed some lighting issues with Screen Space Reflections when ray tracing global illumination is disabled.
  • Improved performance of global illumination by ray tracing and reflections by ray tracing.
  • Fixed an issue where purple splashes could appear on screen when Roach walked through puddles.

Xbox Series X|S et PS5 :

  • The cross-progression pop-up now correctly displays the connected account.
  • Fixed an issue where dark stripes or shadows would appear on Geralt in the inventory screen when Performance Mode is enabled on PlayStation 5.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could briefly freeze or stutter when autosaving on next-gen consoles.
  • Fixed issue with performance drop on next-gen consoles when using Witcher Senses in Beauclair and Novigrad.

PC et consoles next-gen :

  • Fixed an issue where a grid of glowing dots could appear on the floor and walls in certain weather conditions when Ray Tracing is enabled.
  • Cobwebs no longer change color when the camera is moved and Ray Tracing is enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where some textures on characters during cutscenes would appear as not fully rendered.
  • Through Time and Space – Fixed an issue where the mist in Poison Valley was pink instead of white.

Quests and Gameplay (PC and Xbox Series X|S/PS5):

  • Added Sergeanur’s “Next Gen Script Fixes” community mod.

Quests and gameplay (all platforms):

  • in the quest Eternal Fire’s Shadow – Quest background music no longer continues to play after completing it.
    • For players who have encountered this issue before, it may be necessary to re-enter the Novigrad or Oxenfurt Sewers to resolve it.
  • Added an option to automatically apply oils in combat.
  • With the exception of potions and decoctions, it is now impossible for Geralt to eat or drink underwater.
