Injured by firecrackers and many fires on New Year’s Eve 2023 in Vorarlberg.

A total of seven injuries from fireworks were registered on New Year’s Eve in Vorarlberg. A particularly serious case occurred in Fussach.

A firecracker exploded in the hand of a man from Fußach. A finger had to be amputated as a result, as reported by ORF Vorarlberg.

On the Zanzenberg in Dornbirn, an unknown person threw a firecracker into a group of people. A woman was injured.

The fire brigades had to respond to more fires than in previous years. The video shows a fire in Lauterach:

Incident in Dornbirn

On New Year’s Eve, around 100 people stayed in Dornbirn am Zanzenberg to watch the fireworks in Dornbirn from above. At 12:00 a.m., a previously unknown person ignited a pyrotechnic object and threw it over the sloping meadow where there were people. The fireworks hit a 22-year-old woman, causing minor injuries and damaging her clothing. The woman had to be treated in the Dornbirn hospital.

Multiple fires

The Vorarlberg fire brigades had to carry out more operations than in previous years. Several hedges across the country, even a roof truss in Bludenz caught fire on New Year’s Eve – probably favored by the very mild temperatures. All of the fires were quickly extinguished by the emergency services.
