They make money from drugs, prostitution, extortion and, more and more often, from spectacular raids in which they steal millions – we are talking about extended clan families. Again and again they make headlines with spectacular crimes.
The extended family members want to attract attention with mega villas and a large fleet of vehicles. But how do the clan members really tick? A collection of quotes from the daily mirror “ shows how the clans act in everyday life.
parallel world of the clans
According to police estimates, around 20 extended Arab families live in Berlin. They are also up to mischief in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bremen.
Most of the extended families came to Germany from the civil war in Lebanon in the 1980s and 1990s. In the meantime, some of the clans in this country have become a fixture of organized crime. Of course, not all clan members are criminals – some even suffer from the criminal activities of the family. Politics seems largely powerless.
“Man, she’s German, she belongs to everyone”
The collection of quotes from the “Tagesspiegel” shows in a frightening way how individual clan members talk about women, for example.
“She walks around like a whore. Whose is it?” – “Man, she is German, she belongs to everyone.”
Men from the E. clan family are said to have talked about a nurse in Arabic in the waiting room of a Berlin clinic in the summer of 2019, reports the “Tagesspiegel”. A bilingual nurse then informed the clinic about the statements.
In another incident in a hospital, a mother from the extended R. family is said to have insulted a doctor in the Berlin emergency room in autumn 2018 with the words “You German bitch, we’re going to destroy you!”.
Widespread enemy images
Certain enemy images are widespread in the clan milieu. A clan member of the A. family is said to have said the following about a Bulgarian in conversation with a restaurateur: “He’s a real gypsy, you have to be careful, you have to be tough. He’ll always do it like a gypsy.” The restaurateur, who is active in the red-light district, took the conversation as a threat, reports the “Tagesspiegel”.
Hatred of Jews is also a widespread problem among extended families. A man from the C. clan family is said to have said to his son’s teacher in the summer of 2016: “We have to fight the Jews. Not against the Germans. But they brought the Jews to Palestine, we can take the money from the Germans.” And also sentences like “And will the Jews get away with it this time?” are said to fall more frequently among Arab clan members.
“Disgusting! All disabled”
Insulting the LGBTQ community is also not uncommon among clan members. The “Tagesspiegel” reports on a man from the R. family who loudly insulted the participants of the CSD with a companion in July 2019 in Berlin’s Regenbogenkiez: “Disgusting! All handicapped, really handicapped! Wallah!” said the clan member.
Again and again, clan men also threaten reporters. A journalist was spat on at the funeral of the mother of a clan boss in April 2020. According to reports, a clan member snapped at a reporter at a funeral: “Because of the cops here, I won’t flatten you, just because of the cops.”
