Apparently Nicolas Cage and his Spider-Man Noir will not return for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It has already been confirmed that the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse of 2018 will bring back its protagonist miles morales and Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen.

The animated movie will also feature a host of other Spider heroes from across the Spider-Verse, and fans will see the likes of the animated Spectacular Spider-Man on posters for the movie. One character that has been absent from all promotional materials for Across the Spider-Verse is Spider-Man Noirand his voice actor, Nicolas Cage, sheds some light on the hero’s absence.

In an interview with Screen Rant with Nicolas Cage, promoting The Old Way, the actor confirmed that he will not be returning for the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie, and shared his appreciation for Spider-Man Noir. When asked what the chances are that fans will see Spider-Man Noir again, Cage replied:

“You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with that. Nobody has talked to me about it. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t know. I wish they would. I also love Spider-Man Noir. I think it’s a great character. Spider-Man is the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, he’s a great character.”

So now, most likely, Spider-Man Noir will not be present in Across the Spider-Verse, although there is always the possibility that Sony Pictures Animation recast the role, and this could perhaps be because Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse International Poster adds even more Spider Heroes.

The international poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse appears to be the same as the first poster Sony released, except instead of being portrait-length, it’s in landscape mode. Now we can see Spider-Man from PlayStation in his red, blue and white suit, Spinneret (Mary Jane Watson of Earth-18119), and animated Spider-Men from Spider Man Unlimited Y Spectacular Spider-Man.

We also get a closer look at heroes like Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly), a clone of Peter Parker, Issa Rae’s Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew), and Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac. Plus, Nicolas Cage is keeping busy, as his Dracula spin-off, Renfieldreleased its first trailer this week, which sees Cage playing the iconic Dracula.
