Nintendo, which was planning to skip E3 before its cancellation, will be present at another major industry show this summer.
Remember the great era of E3. For a few days, all the spotlights were on the biggest video game show in the world. The Los Angeles Convention Center became the stage for exclusive announcements and ever more bombastic presentations of new titles. In recent years, the show had evolved a lot, between cancellations and transition to digital format because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2023, E3 will not take place either, while many publishers and manufacturers had already indicated that they would not participate in the event. This was the case for Nintendo, which will still be present at another major show in the middle of summer.
Nintendo at Gamescom 2023
For the first time in four years, Nintendo will be attending Gamescom this year. The German show, which welcomes both professionals and the general public, will take place from August 23 to 27 in Cologne. On its Twitter account, the show says it is delighted to welcome the Japanese firm.

Should we expect any big announcements from Big N at the event? Hard to say, but Nintendo should communicate on its line-up in the coming weeks. Don’t dream too much either: it’s still hard to imagine Shigeru Miyamoto or President Shuntaro Furukawa presenting the Nintendo Switch 2 on this occasion.
PlayStation and Xbox also present at Gamescom?
The Gamescom Twitter account does not fail to specify that other exhibitors will join the party in Germany. Like PlayStation, for example? In 2022, the Japanese firm had skipped the show. Remember that PlayStation had also announced its non-participation in E3 before it was canceled. Sony could choose to focus on its own online events for its announcements, between State of Play and PlayStation Showcase. Or on the Tokyo Game Show, which takes place from September 21 to 24. For its part, Xbox had participated in Gamescom in 2022 and should logically do the same for this 2023 edition. This summer, the Summer Game Fest, which takes place on June 9, should also offer its share of announcements. Remember that, unlike the Tokyo Game Show or Gamescom, the Summer Game Fest takes place entirely online.
