While we learned of the official cancellation of E3 a few weeks ago, Nintendo announced that it was organizing its own live event.

Three years ago, the Covid-19 pandemic raged through our lives. Since then, many video game players seem to have forgotten what live events were. Admittedly, the presentations of publishers and manufacturers have continued to be held online. But face-to-face events such as video game fairs have somewhat disappeared from circulation. Nintendo intends to change that and announces a big live event for this year.

A huge live event organized by Nintendo

When the Japanese manufacturer is associated with an event, it is generally at Nintendo Direct. This has become widely democratized in recent years. Taking place online, it allows the firm to reveal more about one or more projects at a lower cost. But there are also Nintendo Live games which, as their name suggests, take place live. Each year, they are usually held in Japan. The 2022 edition, for example, put stands at the disposal of visitors and was animated by Animal Crossing concerts or even Splatoon 3.

Rebelote this year, since Nintendo announces that the next event of this kind will be held in September! Dedicated to franchises and hardware of the firm, it will be a real “mini-E3”. Concerts on stage, tournaments, photo shoots and many other surprises are planned. A major novelty, this Nintendo Direct will take place in Seattle, in the United States! The firm does not communicate more details for the time being, but it has set up a official site to keep players informed.

Announcing #NintendoLive 2023, an in-person event for fans of all ages taking place in Seattle this September! Discover Nintendo Switch gameplay, stage performances, tournaments, photo shoots and more. Stay tuned for more details.

Has E3 finally passed away?

Earlier, we were talking about the consequences of Covid-19 on the holding of events related to the JV. If manufacturers and publishers such as Nintendo seem to have recovered perfectly, this is not the case with E3. The Electronic Entertainment Expo was obviously canceled in 2020 due to the health crisis. In 2021, like many other fairs and events, it was held online. So far, nothing to worry about.

But in 2022, it found itself canceled for the first time. And at the start of 2023, things quickly started to smell scorched again. The more time passed, the more studios announced that they would no longer participate. Devolver, Ubisoft, Sony, Nintendo… And these are just a few examples. Finally, E3 was officially canceled recently. We cross our fingers for the famous show, but it could end up digging its grave for good in 2024 if things don’t work out.
