The person behind the film is the Malmö-based filmmaker Patrik Blomberg Book, who himself was a synthesizer and the creator of the cult-declared 80s synth band “Ausgang Verboten”.

– For me, the synth meant everything, it hit me right in the heart, says Patrik Blomberg Book, director.

The film “Düsseldorf, Skåne” is a tribute to both his own youth and synth culture. It takes place in 1986 in Österlen, where Fredrik, singer in the synth band Vision Moderne, will have his first gig.

– No film has been made before about synthesizers, even though the culture was so big, he says.

Devoted synth players

The film was made possible thanks to crowdfunding from dedicated synth players.

– It started as a crowdfunding where we went out and told them that we wanted to make a film about synth culture. It turned out that there are many old synthesizers who also thought this was fun, says Patrik Blomberg Book.

The film premieres later in 2023 and a longer report can be seen in Cultural program Sweden.
