In the coming years, it is not to be expected that the Marienfelde S-Bahn station will be made barrier-free. As I reported at the end of February, construction is not expected to start until 2029 at the earliest, so that barrier-free access will probably not be possible until the early 1930s. This was announced by the former Secretary of State for Mobility, Meike Niedbal (Greens), in response to a written request from CDU MP Christian Zander.

The district council has now voted in favor of installing two stair lifts there until further renovations are made. According to the approved application, which was initiated by the SPD, it is unreasonable for the citizens who depend on it to have to wait years for barrier-free access. The solution of offering a shuttle service to the next barrier-free station with the BVG Muva minibus is also not suitable. “It is unacceptable that those affected are excluded from spontaneously using public transport,” said SPD district councilor Jürgen Swobodzinski. A workable interim solution is needed.

A BVG minibus, the so-called BVG Muva, is provided between the Marienfelde train station and the next train station at Attilastrasse to the north. It can be booked spontaneously by phone on 030/256 55 5 55 or via the app. However, the offer seems to be hardly known, it is only rarely booked, as the previous State Secretary Niedbal also announced at the time.
